Our university's Immersive Media Convergence and Open Sharing System Center and Virtual Convergence College co-hosted the '2024 CAU X PRES Joint Hackathon' with President University in Indonesia from the 3rd to the 5th in Indonesia.
This event was planned as part of the 'Innovative Convergence College in Advanced Fields Project' promoted by the Ministry of Education for students who dream of global startups in the immersive media field. Students from both countries who are particularly interested in a wide range of immersive media fields, including VR, games, apps, and film, participated in the competition to freely interact, build their capabilities, and strengthen their global network.
The competition began with an opening speech by Wi Jung-hyun, Dean of the Virtual Convergence College, and a welcoming address by Adhi Setyo Santoso, Vice Rector of President University.
A total of five teams, each consisting of two students from our university and two from President University, entered the competition. To help the students produce successful results, three experts from our university and two from President University participated as mentors. The mentors provided technical advice and startup-related insights to support the students' idea development.
A key feature of this competition was its emphasis on a convergent approach that encompassed various immersive media fields. Based on the theme, participating students presented innovative ideas and also developed prototypes.
On the final day of the competition, each team presented their final results, and an awards ceremony was held for the teams that achieved outstanding results. Representatives from both universities personally awarded certificates of completion to the winning teams.
Dean Wi said, "I am delighted to have promoted global startups in the immersive media field and fostered international networking between Korean and Indonesian students through this hackathon." He added, "I hope that students from diverse backgrounds will gain immersive media-related experience and use it as a stepping stone to move one step closer to global entrepreneurship."
